National expert will be keynote speaker

Dr. Scott Needle has been confirmed as our keynote speaker. Dr. Needle is a board-certified pediatrician and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. In February 2004 he opened his solo private practice in the town of Bay St. Louis, Mississippi.  Eighteen months later his office and home were nearly destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.  He returned to the area one month later to resume practice.  His personal and professional experiences during recovery led to national attention regarding children’s health issues, pediatric private practice, disaster preparedness, and health problems related to FEMA trailers in the aftermath of Katrina.

Dr. Needle serves on the American Academy of Pediatrics’ Disaster Preparedness Advisory Council and on the National Advisory Committee on Children and Disasters. He has published several articles about pediatric preparedness.
